FAQ
Question : 1. How do I ask someone to dance?
5/29/2002 11:12:24 PM
Ans :  "May I have this dance?" is always nice.
Or, "Would you like to dance?" works real well.
Being polite goes a long way. Impolite, rude, harsh behavior leaves a negative impression. As an example: Just pulling someone on the floor without their permission or snapping your fingers at someone as a hand signal to dance with them. Nobody likes to be treated like that!

Question : 2. What kind of attire should I wear to dance class?
5/29/2002 11:00:02 PM
Ans :  WOMEN: Casual/Nice clothing i.e. light weight dress, slacks, skirt or a one piece outfit that allows you to move about comfortably. Never wear tight or restrictive clothing. The shoes should be suede or leather soled with good support. The back of the shoe needs to be a sling strap or closed back to secure the shoe to your foot. Smooth soled shoes for greater ease in turning and pivoting. MEN: Slacks and a nice short or long sleeved shirt. Leather or suede soled shoes. No tennis shoes, tank tops or gym attire. Coat and tie are too hot and cumbersom for a dance class. If you are coming straight from the office, remove your coat and tie for class.

Question : 3. Is it ok for a woman to ask a man for a dance?
4/30/2002 11:43:12 PM
Ans :  Yes, if he is not with a date or with his wife. If you must have a dance with a married man, it would be considerate to ask his wife or significant other if it is ok with her for you to ask her husband for a dance. If her reply is yes, then you would ask the man for a dance.

Question : 4. Am I too old to learn to dance?
5/29/2002 11:07:59 PM
Ans :  No. It is never too late to learn. Dance classes are for people of all ages young and old. If you are a teenager you may feel more comfortable dancing with people closer to your own age. If you are a senior and prefer dancing with other seniors be sure to ask the instructor if there is a senior program offered. Otherwise, dancing knows not of one's age but of their desire to have fun and express themselves to music.
